Efficient Energy Use
Our productions prioritize energy efficiency and clean power. On set and in our offices, we use energy-efficient equipment – from LED lighting and energy-star electronics to smart power management systems – to avoid wasteful energy consumption. Whenever possible, we source renewable energy to power our shoots, whether by plugging into green power grids or using solar-powered generators and battery units on location. We enforce a strict no-idling policy for vehicles and diesel generators, and we utilize biofuels or electric vehicles to further cut down on greenhouse gas emissions. By tracking our energy use closely, we continuously seek new ways to reduce consumption without compromising creative needs
Red Creek Green: Environmental Sustainability Policy
At Red Creek, we recognize our responsibility to minimize our environmental footprint while delivering high-quality productions. We are committed to sustainable filmmaking practices that protect our planet and inspire our partners to do the same. Guided by industry-leading frameworks and our own company values, we have implemented the following policies and initiatives:
Climate-Conscious Planning
We measure the carbon footprint of our projects and actively work to reduce it. This includes minimizing travel by using remote collaboration tools and local crews whenever possible. We consolidate shipping and transportation to reduce trips, and choose lower-carbon transport options (electric or hybrid vehicles, rail over air travel). For any unavoidable emissions (such as necessary flights), we invest in verified carbon offset projects to achieve a carbon-neutral footprint for our productions. Our goal is to cut emissions at the source and neutralize the rest, in line with the Paris Climate Agreement’s targets
Waste Reduction & Recycling
We are committed to a zero-waste approach on our productions. We eliminate single-use plastics and disposable items – you will see no plastic water bottles or styrofoam on our sets. Cast and crew are provided with reusable water bottles and food containers, and water refilling stations and recycling bins are readily available. Our catering services emphasize sustainable practices: providing vegetarian/vegan options, locally sourced ingredients, and reusable or compostable serveware. We have systems to separate and recycle paper, glass, metal, and plastics on set, as well as to compost food scraps. At wrap, we donate excess food to local charities and ensure that leftover materials are recycled or repurposed rather than thrown away. Every department is empowered and instructed to minimize waste generation and to recycle materials as part of their daily routine
Sustainable Set Design & Materials
Our productions prioritize energy efficiency and clean power. On set and in our offices, we use energy-efficient equipment – from LED lighting and energy-star electronics to smart power management systems – to avoid wasteful energy consumption. By tracking our energy use closely, we continuously seek new ways to reduce consumption without compromising creative needs
Paperless Workflow
We strive to run a modern, paperless operation. All call sheets, schedules, scripts, and production documents are distributed digitally via secure apps or email. We use electronic signatures for approvals and contracts. By reducing paper printing and physical deliveries, we save natural resources and energy. Our offices also employ digital file management and cloud collaboration tools, which not only cuts down on paper waste but also increases our efficiency. If physical prints are absolutely required, we use 100% recycled paper and both-sided printing by default
Water Conservation
We recognize the importance of conserving water on set and in our facilities. We provide on-set water coolers and discourage any single-use bottled water. Our catering departments are instructed to use water-efficient practices in food prep and cleanup. In outdoor locations, we use biodegradable soaps and have protocols to prevent any pollution of local waterways. Any temporary facilities (like portable restrooms or dressing rooms) are chosen for water-saving features where applicable
Awareness and Training
Continuous Improvement and Transparency
Red Creek is dedicated to continually improving our sustainability performance. We set targets for reducing carbon emissions and waste year-over-year, and we monitor our progress closely. After each production, we conduct a sustainability debrief to capture lessons learned and innovative ideas for future projects. We stay updated with the latest green production techniques and adapt our policies as new solutions emerge. Importantly, we are transparent about our efforts – we communicate our sustainability achievements (and setbacks) with our clients and stakeholders. Upon request, we can provide a Green Production report for projects, detailing the measures taken and the environmental impact (e.g. amount of waste diverted, emissions offset). This accountability ensures we remain true to our commitments and allows our clients to confidently share the environmental story of the content we create together
Conclusion
By integrating these sustainable practices into all aspects of our operations, Red Creek aims to produce exceptional content with minimal environmental impact. We believe that creative storytelling and responsible production can go hand in hand. Our commitment to green production is not only about compliance or reputation – it’s rooted in a genuine desire to do our part in combating climate change and preserving resources for future generations. We thank our clients, crew, and partners for supporting and joining us in this journey toward a more sustainable industry. Together, we can set a positive example and inspire change through every story we tell and every project we undertake
